Bolsena
A place to experience,
not just to visit.

What to See
Bolsena is a village to be discovered step by step. Nestled on the shores of its namesake lake, it preserves a rare balance between nature, history and spirituality.
Among the narrow streets of the historic centre, Castello Monaldeschi towers over the village and houses the Museo Territoriale del Lago di Bolsena, featuring Etruscan, Roman and medieval artefacts. Nearby, the Basilica di Santa Cristina and the early Christian Catacombs tell the story of the deep-seated devotion, rooted in the Eucharistic Miracle of 1263 and the solemnity of Corpus Domini. From the upper village, a unique view opens over the lake and the hills of Tuscia: a landscape that stretches all the way to Parco di Turona, a protected natural area rich in springs, trails and woodlands. For archaeology enthusiasts, the sites of Poggio Moscini and Poggio Pesce–Battaglini are also worth visiting, where traces of the Etruscan-Roman city of Volsinii are preserved.
