Bolsena 1328

The event takes place in the historic center of Bolsena, creating an evocative and engaging atmosphere. It features various types of performances and opportunities to taste traditional medieval food and drink.

In 1328, the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire found himself in conflict with the papacy, and in this context the siege of Bolsena represented a moment of tension and confrontation between imperial and papal forces.
The army attempted repeated attacks on the walls without managing to breach them, thanks to the courage and heroism of the people of Bolsena, forcing the sovereign and his troops to withdraw. Bolsena indeed held a strategic role due to its central position.
The medieval festival that takes place in Bolsena in August recreates the event through costume performances, shows, exhibitions and reconstructions of life scenes, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the 14th century, to discover the customs and traditions of the era, and to witness reenactments of battles and sieges.
